Position Summary
The Student Supports Coordinator will focus on creating and aligning interventions with student needs and behaviors, utilizing restorative and equitable practices. The position is in a Community Middle School in the Bronx, working collaboratively with Children’s Aid and the school staff.
Essential Duties
- Understand and promote the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
- Maintain a school-wide behavior and attendance tracking system.
- Assign interventions based on data from the behavior tracking system.
- Create a behavior plan for Tier 2 and Tier 3 students.
- Progress monitor interventions and student’s behavior plans.
- Work with Success Mentors and school staff to address students’ needs.
- Facilitate Tier 1, 2, and 3 restorative interventions, including individual and social skills groups.
- Work with the Social Worker, Parent Coordinator and other school personnel to connect students and families to appropriate resources.
- Actively participate in Attendance, PBIS (Positive Behavior System of Support) and MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Support) Teams.
- Affiliate with the planning and execution of student and parent events and meetings.
- Attend all appropriate meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Support with monitoring the hallways and cafeteria.
- Regularly conduct outreach to parents and guardians regarding behavior and attendance.
- Perform other tasks as needed that align with the Community School strategy.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required OR High-School Diploma/GED and 2-3 years of relevant experience in student services required.
- 1-2 years of experience in a school setting preferred.
Key Competencies
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft products, Google Suite and able to learn other online platforms.
- Remain positive and energetic while working with a high-needs population.
- Willingness to work with an academic, social-economic and culturally diverse population.
