Student Support Associate/ASP

Full-time, school-site-based position with morning and afternoon hours, approximately 40 hours per week (Monday–Friday: 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM). Student Support Aid averages 25–29 hours per week; After School Mentor averages 11–15 hours per week, not to exceed 40 hours total.

Schedule

• Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 1:45 PM – 6:00 PM
• Wednesday: 12:45 PM – 6:00 PM

Responsibilities

Classroom Support

• Assist the Lead Teacher in ongoing student progress and achievement assessment by collecting and reporting academic data using various means.
• Help tailor instruction to meet individual students’ academic and social needs using data.
• Support and create a strong classroom culture through CWC’s social-emotional learning focus and contribute to the broader school community.
• Support social-emotional learning in classrooms and the yard.
• Assist Lead Teacher with intervention support for struggling learners and English Language Learners.

Outdoor Play Support

• Support the creation of a strong play culture through CWC’s social-emotional learning focus.
• Provide an atmosphere conducive to students’ intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development.
• Establish and enforce rules of conduct; supervise students on the playground, athletic fields, and recess/lunch areas.
• Collaborate with other Student Support Associates to plan physical activities that engage students in play.
• Demonstrate skills being taught; assist students in performing skills.
• Teach safety rules for activities in the playground, athletic fields, and recess/lunch areas.
• Create and maintain a safe environment for students during lunch and recess.
• Support safe bathroom use while students play outdoors.
• Assist with fitness assessments; perform fitness testing once a year with 5th-grade students.
• Create and hold social-emotional learning lessons during outdoor play to facilitate student growth.

Individualized Student Support (RSP and Behavioral Intervention)

• Support instruction for individuals or small groups of students with special needs as assigned.
• Assist students in prescribed learning activities.
• Assist students with behavioral challenges in and out of the classroom.
• Monitor student behavior and use approved behavior management techniques to redirect and modify inappropriate behaviors.
• Implement documented therapy plans for Behavior Intervention treatment.
• Monitor, observe, and report students’ behavioral data according to approved procedures.
• Assist enrichment teachers, adapt activities for students with special needs, and develop modifications for I.E.P. and 504 plans.
• Provide adaptive support with eating and toileting as needed.

School Culture Support and Collaboration

• Support the creation and maintenance of a strong school culture through CWC’s social-emotional learning focus.
• Collaborate with other Student Support Associates to assist with school-wide community events.
• Communicate and engage with students’ families, colleagues, and other school stakeholders as coordinated by a school administrator.
• Participate as an active community member to provide stewardship of the school and adherence to its mission and guiding principles.
• Maintain a high level of professionalism, meeting deadlines and commitments to self, students, and the community.
• Facilitate conflict resolution strategies with students when conflicts arise.
• Participate in professional development activities, both internal and external.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the School Leadership Team.

After School Mentor Responsibilities

• Monitor students’ arrival and departure to the out-of-school time program.
• Track student attendance using appropriate programs.
• Plan, organize, and implement creative indoor activities, including mindfulness and study habits programs.
• Supervise assigned students to ensure safety and program adherence to the daily schedule.
• Oversee academic, homework, and enrichment activities.
• Support the student snack and supper program data tracking.
• Travel to staff meetings, school meetings, and training as scheduled.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
