About the Role
The Student Success Advisor – First Term plays a key role in supporting students from their first course through graduation. This position builds meaningful relationships with students, provides academic guidance and personalized coaching, identifies barriers to success, and connects students with appropriate resources. The role directly contributes to student engagement, retention, and academic progress.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for students from enrollment through graduation.
- Build meaningful relationships that promote student engagement and a sense of belonging.
- Provide academic advising, degree planning, and personalized student coaching.
- Maintain frequent and meaningful communication with students through phone, email, and institutional systems.
- Advocate for student needs across departments to identify and remove barriers to success.
- Analyze student progress data to identify at-risk students and provide appropriate support.
- Educate students on academic tools, university resources, policies, and procedures.
- Participate in initiatives designed to improve the overall student experience and support services.
- Maintain high standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
- Collaborate with Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Services, Academic Affairs, and other departments.
- Attend required training and effectively apply new knowledge and processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong commitment to a student-centered approach.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a warm and engaging phone presence.
- High level of integrity, accountability, and self-motivation.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Blackboard, CRM platforms, and related software.
- Flexibility to work assigned weekend schedules.
- Ability to receive feedback professionally and apply it to improve performance.
Pay
Annual salary: $45,000
Hourly equivalent: $21.64 per hour
