About the role

The Yale Law School Registrar’s Office is responsible for maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of academic records; supporting academic scheduling, course offerings, registration, and examinations; monitoring student academic progress and compliance with graduation requirements and academic policies; ensuring adherence to American Bar Association standards and applicable federal regulations; and providing accurate, responsive support to students, faculty, alumni, and other university stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains student records, supports examination administration and registration processes, prepares communications, provides customer service, and helps ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance of student data and efficient office operations.
  • Creates and maintains student records, process student status changes, ensuring timely updates and accurate records and conduct regular quality assurance checks and audits of student records to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with institutional policies.
  • Supports the administration of examinations, proctoring exams, distributing examination materials, printing and/or collating electronic copies of student exam answers, and disseminating examination materials to faculty and faculty assistants while ensuring the highest levels of accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with institutional guidelines and FERPA regulations.
  • Provides advice and information to students on short and long-term educational and career goals and on available University resources such as financial aid, fellowships, career services and educational programs.
  • Coordinates and oversees a range of processes and programs in such areas as admissions, financial aid, registration, placement, and career services.
  • Adapts and implements new policies and processes regarding specific areas of specialty; develops, recommends and implements solutions and corrections to policies and processes.
  • Assists in designing, recommending and implementing computer programs and systems for admissions, registration, career services, and financial aid.
  • Processes financial and other transactions, track data, generate and analyze reports.
  • Assists in the design and development of student publications, communications and program web sites.
  • Ensures all student services and student support functions conform to University policies and guidelines.
  • Makes sure all student records are monitored, tracked, and maintained accurately.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills And Abilities

  • Ability to maintain accurate, secure academic records with strong attention to detail; follow procedures, document actions, and ensure compliance and audit-ready transparency in all recordkeeping and updates.
  • High level of proficiency in Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Teams.
  • Knowledge of Banner (or similar complex student information system), Argos (or similar reporting tool).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to use diplomacy and tact, interpret rules and procedures, and maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations while managing constant interruptions.
  • Demonstrated high-level customer service skills and ability to handle troubleshooting of student applications.
  • Equipped to partner with faculty, staff, ITS, and campus stakeholders through training, guidance, and responsive support.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, showing initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with student services and student records administration, including knowledge of records, registration, and enrollment processes.

Preferred Skills And Abilities

  • 5 years' experience in a student services environment.
  • Experience with examination administration, examination proctoring, or examination software.
  • Familiarity with final examinations, examination systems, and/or exam proctoring.
  • Familiarity with testing accommodations, law schools, student information systems, and academic applications (DegreeWorks, ApplicationXtender, Dynamic Forms).
