About the role
The Student Services Coordinator I plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive support to students, contributing to their overall academic success and well-being. This position involves collaborating with various departments and stakeholders to address student needs, facilitate engagement, and ensure a positive student experience.
Responsibilities
- Student Support
- Assist students in navigating policies and procedures.
- Address student concerns and provide guidance on available resources for academic and personal support.
- Enrollment Services
- Aid with the enrollment process, including registration, course add/drop, and withdrawals.
- Collaborate with Student Engagement to facilitate the smooth transition of new students.
- Assist with basic tech support.
- Records Management
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records.
- Process and update student information in the database.
- Crisis Intervention and Referral
- Provide support in crisis situations and refer students to appropriate resources.
- Collaborate with Student Success and other support units to ensure a holistic approach to student well-being.
- Communication
- Serve as a point of contact for student inquiries, emails, and phone calls.
- Disseminate important information to students regarding deadlines, policies, and events.
Requirements
- Associates degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
- 0 - 3 years of experience in student services, advising, or a related field
- Demonstrated commitment to student success and development
- Successful completion of a background check and current and/or ability to obtain the following clearances: Child Abuse, State Police, FBI Fingerprinting, and Mandated Reporter for Child Abuse
- Excellent communication (written, verbal, listening and public speaking) skills
- Familiarity with basic tech support
- Excellent working knowledge of field of work
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment
- Knowledge of policies, academic requirements, and support services
- Familiarity with student information systems and database management
- Must be service oriented with a focus on helping others
- Resolving conflicts and negotiating with others
- Ability to multi-task, set priorities and achieve desired goals
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite
