About the role
The University of California, Merced is seeking a Student Service Advisor to support New Student Orientation. This is a temporary, union-represented position.
Responsibilities
- Assists New Student Orientation professional staff with recruitment and planning efforts for Orientation.
- Manages registration processes and tracking (in-line with move-in processes).
- Develops master timelines for facilities, work orders, and permits.
- Collaborates in coordinating space reservations and room setup.
- Plans and executes information fairs.
- Aids students, parents, and guests with Orientation registration questions and issues.
- Updates the Banner system with Orientation cancellations and no-shows.
- Serves as a co-supervisor for Orientation Logistics Leaders Student Staff.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
- Basic knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population.
- Basic knowledge of UC Merced programs and policies (preferred).
- Effective communication skills (oral and written).
- Interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks.
- Basic understanding and experience managing websites and social media (preferred).

Pay
The hourly range the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $22.32 - 27.40.
