About the Opportunity

The Student Payments Collections Advisor will step into a highly rewarding, specialized advisory role designed to serve as a supportive financial partner for students navigating outstanding obligations. This position takes hands-on ownership of the outreach, negotiation, and account recovery process for overdue tuition and fees. Balancing fiscal responsibility with profound empathy, the Advisor acts as a problem-solver who guides students through complex account details, structures sustainable payment agreements, and connects individuals with auxiliary financial resources—directly helping students resolve their balances, resume their studies, and protect their academic futures.

Responsibilities

• Conduct proactive, professional outreach to students with outstanding tuition or unpaid financial obligations via phone, email, and localized messaging channels
• Assess complex account balances and present tailored resolution pathways, including structured installment plans, scholarship opportunities, and alternative financial aid
• Cultivate trusting, long-term relationships with students and families, serving as a supportive resource for understanding educational financial obligations
• Negotiate realistic payment agreements, settlement terms, or short-term extensions in strict alignment with individual student circumstances and institutional policies
• Investigate and resolve student billing disputes with care, escalating highly complex administrative or financial cases to specialized departments as required
• Collaborate dynamically with Financial Aid, Student Services, Registrar, and Alumni Support divisions to construct holistic payment solutions for struggling students

Requirements

• Possession of a High School Diploma or verified equivalent with three (3) to five (5) years of related professional experience; OR an Associate degree or higher with at least one (1) year of direct experience
• Prior professional exposure within student accounts, financial aid, medical/consumer collections, high-volume customer service, or consultative billing environments is highly advantageous
• Superb verbal and written communication skills, characterized by the ability to discuss sensitive financial matters clearly, calmly, and persuasively
• Deep capacity for empathy, patience, and active listening when navigating difficult conversations with emotionally or financially stressed students
• Excellent negotiation, conflict de-escalation, and collaborative problem-solving capabilities
• Strong administrative proficiency, featuring comfortable navigation of student databases, customer relationship management (CRM) software, and Microsoft Office tools

Pay Range and Compensation Package

Target baseline compensation framework: Hourly pay ranges from $20.54 to $27.78 USD per hour
