Student Nurse Extern Program (Dec 2027 Graduates & After)

Role: Student Nurse Extern (SNE) - an experiential learning position for current nursing students to gain bedside clinical experience while working towards their RN degree. Responsibilities include: providing basic patient care under RN supervision, performing age-appropriate and culturally competent tasks such as hygiene, vital signs, and mobility, and assisting with technical procedures like phlebotomy and Foley catheter removal as trained. Key duties: ensuring patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality; participating in hourly rounds; supporting team initiatives; transporting supplies and medications; maintaining a clean environment; and communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff. Qualifications: high school diploma or equivalent, at least one clinical rotation completed in an acute care setting, current Basic Life Support certification, and strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills. Computer literacy and basic medical terminology knowledge are required.
