Role Overview: The Student Nurse Extern provides basic patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse, gaining hands-on experience to develop clinical skills and nursing knowledge. Key Responsibilities Deliver safe, age-appropriate, and culturally competent care including hygiene, vital signs, and comfort measures.Assist with activities of daily living, transport supplies, medications, and support patient needs.Perform approved advanced technical procedures, such as phlebotomy and Foley catheter removal, aligned with training.Ensure patient safety, confidentiality, and dignity while fostering a positive patient experience.Participate in hourly rounding, communicate effectively with patients and team members, and support quality improvement initiatives.Maintain infection control, proper body mechanics, and a clean environment. Qualifications & Skills High school diploma or equivalent and one clinical rotation in an acute care setting.Current enrollment in a nursing program with at least one completed clinical course.Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Association).Strong communication, interpersonal, multitasking, and computer skills.Ability to work effectively under stress, maintain attention to detail, and collaborate with healthcare team.
