About the Role
The Student Enrollment Advisor serves students and families enrolling in any New Orleans public and non-public schools participating in the unified enrollment system. Responsibilities include early childhood eligibility verification, waitlist management, virtual assistance to families, and back-of-house support for Student Enrollment Coordinators and Family Resource Centers.
Responsibilities
- Provide students and families with objective, informed information about citywide school choice and perform back-of-house support for the application process.
- Deliver exemplary customer service, including answering incoming calls and responding to emails in a timely manner.
- Conduct virtual appointments for families seeking enrollment assistance.
- Maintain conscientious student data in SalesForce, adhering to district standards and state/local student privacy laws.
- Internalize and implement district guidelines for enrollment procedures, parent rights, and responsibilities, including state/local guidance for specific student populations (e.g., students with special needs, limited English proficiency, early childhood education).
- Determine applicant eligibility for publicly funded early childhood seats by verifying income, residency, and other legal documents against eligibility criteria.
- Document every Early Childhood account/application to reflect current family SNAP, verification, and communication statuses (in-person and virtual).
- Verify at least 95% of assigned Early Childhood applications and documents based on team expectations and local, state, and federal verification categories.
- Escalate parent and student concerns to the Executive Director of Family Services, coordinating with district accountability offices as needed.
- Perform additional student services, including attendance at community events.
- Participate in occasional evening and/or weekend enrollment events to support New Orleans families and students.
- Attend staff and district meetings as required.
- Provide administrative support to the Executive Director of Family Services and assist Student Enrollment Coordinators as needed.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required.
- 2 years of customer service experience required.
Work Environment
- Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (e.g., keyboarding, machine operation) during the workday.
- Rarely required to exert physical effort in handling objects over 30 pounds.
- Rarely exposed to physical occupational risks (e.g., cuts, burns, toxic chemicals).
- Rarely exposed to physical environmental factors (e.g., dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes).
- Normal work setting is an office or school environment.
