Student Engagement Coordinator

Position Summary

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Student Life, the Student Engagement Coordinator contributes to the development and administration of comprehensive out-of-class and co-curricular experiences that are inclusive and responsive to student interests and needs. The Student Engagement Coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of purposeful, learning-centered programs and services that guide student clubs and professional organizations while promoting the college's Core values of student centeredness, community, collaboration, and respect.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serves as the advisor to the Campus Activities Programming Board (CAPB); providing oversight and guidance to student board members to ensure the development of effective and well-managed small scale student activities and large-scale annual events including but not limited to, Welcome Week, Spirit Week, Stress Relief Weeks, Snack Attack Weeks, and Springfest.

  • Assists in the planning and implementation of Orientation. Provides oversight to 50+ student clubs and professional organizations.

  • Tasks include but are not limited to:

    • Departmental and operational support to all recognized student clubs and professional organizations and assists with managing logistics for programs and events hosted by student clubs and organizations.
    • Manages the club and professional organization purchasing process.
    • Serves as the main point of contact for student club and professional organization advisors, providing training and development opportunities; maintains the advisor manual, and ensures compliance of all club and organization advisors on annual OSEL advisor training and annual CSA training.
    • Affords support to and assists with all office initiatives and campus wide social programming including but not limited to, activities such as Welcome Week, bus trips, Springfest, Fall Family Weekend, and Leadership events.
  • Represents student organizations for various campus-wide programs, including but not limited to: New Student Orientation, Family Weekend, and Admissions Events.

  • Participate in the On-Call Resident Director duty rotation. Supports Residential Life operations as needed.

  • Assists the Sr. Director in implementing best practices for New Student Orientation Programs with a focus on student leader recruitment and selection. Assists SR. Director as needed in program and event planning and program execution for all new student orientations including New First Year and Undergraduate Transfer student programs, Parent/Family, and MS and P1 Student Transition programs.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provides support to and assists with all office initiatives and campus wide social programming including but not limited to, activities such as Welcome Week, bus trips, Springfest, Fall Family Weekend, and Leadership events.

  • Contributes to departmental, division and institutional goal setting, serves on college committees and special projects as appropriate.

  • Collaborates with ACPHS departments, including Events Office, Physical Plant, Dining Services, Athletics and Recreation, Public Safety, Information Technology Services, as needed.

  • Serves as a member of the Student Experience Division and collaborates with team members to create and build programs and opportunities for our students to engage on-campus and thrive at ACPHS.

  • Participates in professional organizations with relevance to the field of student involvement and student development.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Current knowledge of and experience applying best practices in student affairs.

  • Knowledge of student development theory.

  • Excellent organizational and training skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication with proven experience conducting presentations for varied audiences.

  • Ability to exercise independent, sound, analytical/diagnostic judgements.

  • Skills in development, implementation, and execution of programs.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in teams, including working with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.

  • Knowledge of current risk management practices in higher education.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Experience within and/or leading student organizations.

  • Experience in advising student clubs/organizations, program creations and working with college policy and/or leadership development programs preferred.
