The Josef Korbel School of Global & Public Affairs at the University of Denver is an interdisciplinary professional school of international studies that prepares students for careers in the public, private, and non-profit sectors. The School offers seven master's degrees and two undergraduate degrees, and houses several research centers and institutes. Through teaching, research, and direct engagement, the Korbel School addresses global challenges such as equitable economic development, emerging security threats, human rights, climate change, and democratic governance.
About the role
The Josef Korbel School is seeking an energetic and experienced part-time Student Affairs Manager to support Undergraduate Student Affairs. This 20-hour-per-week position plays a vital role in providing academic advising and program support to undergraduate students, collaborating closely with the Director of Undergraduate Student Affairs.
Responsibilities
- Provide academic advising for undergraduate students majoring or minoring in International Studies and/or Public Policy, including one-on-one and group advising sessions throughout the academic year
- Maintain accurate records and monitor the academic progress of International Studies (INTS) and Public Policy (PPOL) majors and minors
- Engage with prospective students and their families in collaboration with the Office of Undergraduate Admission
- Provide general program support and assist with special projects for faculty and staff within the Undergraduate Program in International Studies and Public Policy
- Develop and manage communications, including newsletters, for current and prospective students
- Assist with planning and coordination of events, including undergraduate social programs, commencement, and orientation receptions
- Occasional support for graduate programs
Requirements
- At least two years of experience working with and mentoring a diverse population of higher education students
- At least two years of experience in academic advising and administrative support
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining exceptional attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of constituents in a team-oriented environment
- Proven ability to exercise sound independent judgment in a fast-paced academic setting
- Experience planning, organizing, and promoting events
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Publisher, and Word
Skills
- Knowledge of FERPA and student privacy regulations
- Knowledge of academic policies, curriculum requirements, and degree progress standards
- Knowledge of student conduct, grievance, and support processes
- Knowledge of enrollment, retention, and persistence initiatives

Schedule
Variable, 20 hours per week. This position is eligible for partial remote work under the University’s flexible work policy, with details to be determined based on division and team needs.
Pay
The hourly range for this position is $23.00–$28.09.
