Position Summary The Student Accounts Manager/ Bursar is responsible for overseeing student billing operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of all student account transactions, and maintaining compliance with institutional and regulatory standards. This role serves as the primary point of contact for student financial inquiries and plays a key role in supporting the school’s financial integrity and student experience. Key Responsibilities Accurately post all incoming funds including financial aid disbursements, cash payments, refunds, and third-party sponsorshipsManage student payment plans, monitor due dates, and follow up on outstanding balancesCollaborate with third-party collections agencies when necessaryProcess cash and credit card payments; reconcile and balance daily cash drawerReview and reconcile student accounts regularly, identifying and resolving discrepanciesMaintain accurate financial records and documentation for audits and complianceServe as the primary point of contact for student billing inquiries and account supportPartner with Financial Aid to ensure proper application of funds and loan disbursementsGenerate periodic financial reports for leadershipEnsure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulationsSupport audit preparation, accreditation requirements, and reporting standardsCoordinate with finance teams on 1098-T processingAssist with student registration and orientation by explaining financial obligationsSupport month-end close activitiesAct as a liaison and ambassador for Apex Technical SchoolContribute to team success through collaboration, adaptability, and continuous improvement Qualifications Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)3–5 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or student accountsExperience in higher education or career technical schools strongly preferred Technical Skills Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office SuiteExperience with School Information Systems (Anthology/Ellucian preferred)Familiarity with Google Classroom, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams Core Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsHigh level of accuracy and attention to detailExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to handle sensitive information with confidentialityStrong organizational and time management skillsAbility to work both independently and collaborativelyProven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Additional Information Occasional travel to other Apex locations may be requiredMust demonstrate alignment with Apex’s mission and commitment to student success
