Structures Technician (Base Maint./ Services Hubs) - 1139

About the role

As a Structures Technician at West Star, each day will bring new experiences and opportunities for growth. You will need basic to advanced knowledge of turbine aircraft structures, reading blueprints, working from drawings, fastening systems, procedures, and techniques. The Structures Technician reports to the MRO Services Manager and is responsible for completing repairs on aircraft parts and components. This position requires a professional demeanor and the ability to create a work environment that fosters mutual respect between co-workers, customers, and vendors. You will work across various departments with minimal supervision, focusing on details, quality, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic sheet metal operations such as drilling, riveting, and cutting on airframe and associated components.
• Apply and remove sealant, sound deadening, and finish materials.
• Maintain, clean, and repair shop facilities, equipment, and tooling when required.
• Use basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases.
• Comply with current Federal Aviation Regulations, Repair Station, and Quality Control Manual Policies and Procedures.
• Ensure all necessary maintenance entries on maintenance forms and work orders are properly executed.
• Maintain work area cleanliness and good housekeeping to promote safe operation.
• When working away from the Repair Station, follow all processes and procedures outlined in the Repair Station Manual.
• Utilize proper tooling and equipment that is calibrated and in good working order for maintenance tasks.
• Ensure repair and overhaul of all articles and components is accomplished within the authority of the Repair Station and inspected by the inspection department.
• Handle and tag all parts properly during the repair process and through work completion.
• Perform incoming inspections (Receiving Inspection) on parts, supplies, and articles to determine airworthiness prior to use.
• Ensure no defective, non-conformed, or un-airworthy parts are installed in any component or assembly.
• Communicate effectively in English (speak, write, read).
• Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; Airframe and Powerplant License preferred.
• Valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport (ideal but not mandatory).
• Prior aircraft sheet metal repair experience is highly recommended.
• Self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment with specific deadlines and time constraints.
• Attend work every day as scheduled, including overtime and weekend assignments.
• Notify supervisor in advance if unable to work a scheduled shift.
• Reliable transportation to get to work daily.
• Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
• Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
• Maintain customer-oriented work habits.

Physical Requirements

• Lift up to 70 lbs.
• Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting.
• Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
• Climb ladders and stairs; work in small, restricted areas.
• Stand for long periods of time.

Mental Requirements

• Understand and implement regulations and guidelines.
• Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation.
• Work with others in a professional manner.

Supervision

Work under the supervision of an assigned Team Leader. May be directed to supervise other technicians in some capacity.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot.

Equipment Used

• Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
• Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment.
• Jacks, stands, lifts, and other support devices.
• Tugs, power carts, and other engine-powered equipment.

Pay

The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $39.00 - $49.00. Actual hourly rate will vary and may be above or below the range based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. Additional compensation in the form of a shift differential will be provided if assigned to an alternate shift. Other forms of compensation include a semi-annual discretionary bonus, 401(k) company match, and employer contribution to a Health Savings Account (HSA).
