About the role
We are seeking an experienced Structural Steel Fabrication Manager to lead daily production across two nearby facilities and two shifts. This hands-on leadership role oversees safety, equipment, facility needs, fabrication performance, quality, scheduling, and on-time shipments for approximately 65 employees (growing toward 90), including 5-6 department/shop supervisors. The position reports to the VP of Operations and supports workforce planning, hiring, retention, employee development, disciplinary matters, continuous improvement, succession planning, and production scheduling.
Responsibilities
- Direct daily fabrication activities across two facilities and two shifts
- Lead and support production supervisors and department teams
- Maintain a strong focus on employee safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency
- Coordinate production schedules and ensure shipping and delivery commitments are met
- Oversee facility, equipment, and maintenance needs
- Monitor fabrication workflows and identify opportunities for improvement
- Support recruitment, retention, workforce development, and succession planning
- Manage multiple structural steel projects simultaneously
- Oversee departments including Receiving/Inventory, CNC Processing, Fabrication/Welding, Paint, and Shipping
- Address production issues and provide practical solutions to improve operations
Requirements
- 7+ years of structural steel fabrication experience
- 5+ years of leadership experience in fabrication, manufacturing, or production
- Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1; CWI certification preferred but not required
- Experience working in an AISC-certified shop or fabrication environment
- Experience managing large, heavy, or complex fabrication projects
- Knowledge of SSPC and ASTM coating requirements
- Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication processes, workflows, and shop operations
- Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to anticipate production challenges and identify improvement opportunities
- Authorized to work in the U.S.

Pay
Starting salary: $80,000/year, with higher compensation available based on experience.
