About the role

We are seeking an experienced Structural Steel Fabrication Manager to lead daily production across two nearby facilities and two shifts. This hands-on leadership role oversees safety, equipment, facility needs, fabrication performance, quality, scheduling, and on-time shipments for approximately 65 employees (growing toward 90), including 5-6 department/shop supervisors. The position reports to the VP of Operations and supports workforce planning, hiring, retention, employee development, disciplinary matters, continuous improvement, succession planning, and production scheduling.

Responsibilities

  • Direct daily fabrication activities across two facilities and two shifts
  • Lead and support production supervisors and department teams
  • Maintain a strong focus on employee safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency
  • Coordinate production schedules and ensure shipping and delivery commitments are met
  • Oversee facility, equipment, and maintenance needs
  • Monitor fabrication workflows and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Support recruitment, retention, workforce development, and succession planning
  • Manage multiple structural steel projects simultaneously
  • Oversee departments including Receiving/Inventory, CNC Processing, Fabrication/Welding, Paint, and Shipping
  • Address production issues and provide practical solutions to improve operations

Requirements

  • 7+ years of structural steel fabrication experience
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in fabrication, manufacturing, or production
  • Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1; CWI certification preferred but not required
  • Experience working in an AISC-certified shop or fabrication environment
  • Experience managing large, heavy, or complex fabrication projects
  • Knowledge of SSPC and ASTM coating requirements
  • Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication processes, workflows, and shop operations
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to anticipate production challenges and identify improvement opportunities
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

Pay

Starting salary: $80,000/year, with higher compensation available based on experience.
