About the role
Provides support to the estimating department, responsible for preparing estimates as needed for projects, specifications, proposals, and other documentation.
Responsibilities
- Creates and sends out Request for Quotes to subcontractors/vendors.
- Performs data entry for accurate pricing.
- Prepares new projects for software transfer.
- Composes and types reports and routine correspondence.
- Files correspondence and other records.
- Inputs information into computer to maintain files and job progress reports.
- Distributes appropriate documents to other departments as instructed.
- Compiles and types statistical reports.
- Maintains a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in an effective manner with customers, co-workers, clients and supervisors.
- Performs other job duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- One-year certificate from college or technical school; three to six months related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combinations of education and experience.
- Ability to speak effectively to customers and prospects, efficient writing skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel & Word.
- Office knowledge and competence in basic math skills – add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in oral, written or diagram form.
- Knowledge of all standard office equipment – phone, computer, copier, etc.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to sit, occasionally stands and walks, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
- Regularly required to talk or hear.
- Seldom lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- General office and constant exposure to computer display.
- Occasional interaction with production employees in the fabrication facility.
