Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze project drawings, specifications, and related documents to determine the scope of work and required materials.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs for structural steel components, including beams, columns, braces, connections, and miscellaneous metals.
- Solicit and evaluate quotes from material suppliers, subcontractors, and fabricators to ensure competitive pricing and compliance with project requirements.
- Prepare comprehensive cost estimates that include materials, labor, equipment, transportation, and overhead costs.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify project requirements and resolve discrepancies in plans or specifications.
- Identify potential risks and propose value engineering solutions to optimize cost, schedule, and constructability.
- Prepare and submit bid proposals, ensuring all required documentation is complete and accurate.
- Track and update cost databases and historical project data for future reference and benchmarking.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and post-award contract negotiations as needed.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, codes, and best practices related to industrial structural steel construction.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in estimating industrial structural steel projects.
- Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Tekla, AutoCAD, or similar tools).
- Strong understanding of construction documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Knowledge of relevant building codes, safety regulations, and fabrication standards.
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills with stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
