Structural Fitter Helper

Key Responsibilities

• Aid in measuring, marking, cutting, and positioning structural metal components.
• Help set up and prepare materials and tools for fitting operations.
• Hold, align, and secure materials in place while the fitter completes welding or bolting tasks.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and rigging equipment under supervision.
• Clean and maintain work areas, tools, and equipment.
• Follow all site safety rules, PPE requirements, and health regulations.
• Support quality control efforts by checking materials and finished parts for compliance.
• Aid in moving heavy materials or components using hoists, cranes, or forklifts as directed.
• Perform basic grinding, drilling, and deburring as required.
• Aid in reading and interpreting simple blueprints or drawings.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
• Prior experience in a construction or industrial environment is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
• Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively with team members.
• Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items, stand for long periods, and work in varied weather conditions.
• Willingness to learn and take directions from senior fitters and supervisors.

Working Conditions

• Exposure to loud noise, dust, and potentially hazardous materials.
• May be required to work overtime, weekends, or night shifts depending on project needs.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Frequent bending, stooping, climbing, and standing.
• Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
