Key Responsibilities
- Aid in measuring, marking, cutting, and positioning structural metal components.
- Help set up and prepare materials and tools for fitting operations.
- Hold, align, and secure materials in place while the fitter completes welding or bolting tasks.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and rigging equipment under supervision.
- Clean and maintain work areas, tools, and equipment.
- Follow all site safety rules, PPE requirements, and health regulations.
- Support quality control efforts by checking materials and finished parts for compliance.
- Aid in moving heavy materials or components using hoists, cranes, or forklifts as directed.
- Perform basic grinding, drilling, and deburring as required.
- Aid in reading and interpreting simple blueprints or drawings.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Prior experience in a construction or industrial environment is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively with team members.
- Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items, stand for long periods, and work in varied weather conditions.
- Willingness to learn and take directions from senior fitters and supervisors.
Working Conditions
- Exposure to loud noise, dust, and potentially hazardous materials.
- May be required to work overtime, weekends, or night shifts depending on project needs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Frequent bending, stooping, climbing, and standing.
- Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
