About the Role

Directly supervise, support, and provide direction and leadership to Structural Engineers and third-party Engineering teams. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for the financial performance of their team and will support client management and business development activities. Focus on Integrated Modular Solutions for three core market segments: IT, Telecom, and Industrial, including detailed system designs for Data Centers, Central Office, Switching Centers, and Video Hub Office. Supervise all Engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the post-sales Engineering team and manage technical project execution from initial design through production and delivery to the customer.
  • Lead the Engineering team to create designs that meet or exceed Vertiv’s quality requirements while staying within budget.
  • Coordinate Structural Engineering activities with a team consisting of Vertiv and third-party Engineers.
  • Collaborate with other Vertiv business units and preferred third-party equipment suppliers to select equipment meeting customer and project requirements.
  • Interact with customers and their Engineering teams to align Vertiv’s designs with customer requirements and expectations.
  • Support customers’ permitting efforts by engaging with their permitting agents as needed.
  • Coordinate with the customer’s General Contractor (GC) for all site work.
  • Manage and coordinate contracted engineering companies for civil Engineering, Structural designs, calculations, and factory shop drawing development.
  • Work with local agencies to ensure compliance with federal, state, municipal requirements, and building codes.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with standards such as National Building Code (NBC), International Building Code (IBC), AISC, ASTM, AWS welding requirements, and National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Support onsite project operations, including failure mode and root cause analysis, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operating procedure review.
  • Travel to sites for reviews, work with field engineers, and provide engineering evaluations, mechanical systems audits, and startup support as needed.
  • Offer creative, out-of-the-box solutions to customers.
  • Create and improve existing engineering plans, processes, and procedures.
  • Perform annual performance evaluations and set objectives for Engineering team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (optional if equivalent experience is demonstrated).
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License (optional).
  • 6+ years of engineering and management experience.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, SolidWorks, and Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Experience reading, understanding, and interpreting construction drawings and equipment specifications.
  • Understanding of the National Electrical Code, National Building Code, International Building Code, and NFPA70.
  • Fundamental understanding of critical data center equipment.
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.

Schedule

15–20% domestic travel required.
