Position Summary

SUMMARY OF POSITION: Operate Lead Strip equipment.

Essential Functions

  • Strip white lead off hose for reuse in white lead system.
  • Keep white lead grinders operating at full capacity.
  • Keep white lead extruder supplied with regrind white lead.
  • Send hose to mandrel blow out for further disposition.
  • Provide required samples to the QA department.
  • Identify and eliminate known defects.
  • Document good and non-conforming product.
  • Correctly fill out required paperwork daily.
  • Train new employees as needed.
  • Detect and report problem areas or unusual conditions to supervisor.
  • Perform related and other duties assigned by supervisor.
  • Ability to work overtime as required, including extended shifts & weekends, to meet business needs.

  • Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk.
  • Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately.
  • Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner.
  • Maintain production schedules.
  • Participate in peer-based teams (i.e., Natural High Performance Teams), and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.

Qualifications

  • Education Required: High School diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Production work preferred but not required.
  • Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills, basic knowledge and use of hand tools, sound decision making skills, good math, reading, writing skills, demonstrated mechanical aptitude, strong trouble shooting skills, ability to work well in a team environment, basic computer skills, ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action, vision: near acuity and accommodation for reading information to perform job tasks, requires constant alertness to surroundings and product quality with attention to detail, physical requirements: none at all (0%), occasional (1-33%), frequent (34-66%), continuous (67-100%), lift/carry: up to 10 lbs, 11-30 lbs, bend, twist/turn, reach below knee, push/pull, squat/kneel, stand/walk, sit, lift above shoulders, assessment: employee must pass pre-employment screening, organizational relationships/scope: report directly to value stream team leader, work closely with maintenance to resolve issues with the equipment, working conditions: high noise levels from operating machines and equipment, physical hazards from operating machines and moving reels, work in areas where safety equipment will be required (steel toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection), standing is required for extended periods of time, walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting is performed on a regular basis, requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions, ability to work overtime, including short-notice overtime and weekend coverage to meet business needs, the employee may be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws, licenses required: forklift training as directed by Parker Hannifin.

Skills/Competencies

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action.

Licenses Required

  • Forklift training as directed by Parker Hannifin.
