About the Role

Oversee the operation, programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting of stress furnace and electric preheating equipment. Train and supervise Stress Operators while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and production guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and perform routine maintenance on stress furnace and electric preheating equipment.
  • Train employees on proper use and maintenance of equipment.
  • Schedule work in accordance with production commitments, company plans, and budgets.
  • Comply with safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and regulations.
  • Read and interpret PWHT (Post Weld Heat Treatment) procedures.
  • Review sketches for material types and wall thickness.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed.
  • Coordinate with bay loaders to move spools and with QC to ensure procedures meet job requirements.
  • Operate overhead cranes and rig pipe safely.
  • Set up welds for local and/or furnace stressing.
  • Identify and protect flange faces, thread ends, and specialty parts requiring heat treatment.
  • Properly block or chock spools in the furnace.
  • Ensure all PWHT calibrations are up to date.
  • Apply knowledge of machining methods, including installing, aligning, and securing tools, attachments, and fixtures.
  • Use hand tools and precision measuring instruments to verify conformance of machined workpieces to specifications.
  • Read blueprints or job orders to obtain product specifications (dimensions, tolerances) and tooling instructions (fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds).
  • Process production jobs, complete production paperwork, and follow inspection procedures.
  • Report discrepancies to management and maintain tools, gauges, and equipment in a clean, safe, and orderly manner.
  • Perform scheduled daily maintenance and train other personnel as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience with stress furnace ovens and local stress equipment.
