Operations Supervisor (Slab)

About the role

The Operations Supervisor is directly responsible for the day to day supervision of the shift Lead(s), Warehouse Floor, and Team Members. The Supervisor provides any necessary leadership and training to the team members. This role is also responsible for managing the functionality of the department(s), and ensures all areas are properly able to execute the daily workload.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for ensuring all functions are properly staffed to execute varied workload volumes.
• Manage the workflow of the Slab department with a team of 5-7 employees.
• Safely lead and support the Slab Team(s) in Unloading inbound cargo containers, movement of slabs, Order picking, and Loading functions.
• Maintain and manage Safety and Quality standards and processes.
• Ensure timely Slab Department performance; work closely with Leads and Team Members to ensure Customer Orders meet standards.
• Manage daily/weekly/monthly safety, quality, and productivity reporting.
• Maintain a safe work environment by driving a Safety First Culture at all times.
• Maintain a clean and hazard free warehouse operation.
• Provide Leadership, training, and supervision to approximately 5-10 team members.
• Supervise and operate overhead crane and team members.
• Supervise and operate forklift and team members.
• Continuously develop leadership capabilities and professional growth of the team.
• Responsible for all facility/equipment maintenance and supplies.
• Perform additional duties as required and or requested.

Qualifications

• High School Education or Equivalent required.
• 2+ years of specific relevant work experience in a Leadership Role.
• Must have 2 years of supervisory/management experience.
• Must have supervised at least 5-7 team members.
• Must have 2 years of Distribution Center Operations experience.
• Bachelor's Degree with emphasis on Logistics or Operations Management preferred.
• Forklift experience a plus.
• 2 years of experience with overhead cranes is preferred.
• Large Stone Slab experience is preferred.
• Lean Manufacturing principles highly desired.
• Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Related industry experience; natural stone, tile or hard flooring industries preferred.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of Distribution and Warehouse Management applications.
• Demonstrated leadership and managerial abilities.
• Excellent oral and written English language communication skills.
• Provide high level of customer service.
• Must have excellent People Management and Time Management skills and abilities.
• Good organizational skills.

Physical demands

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their hands to handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with their hands and arms; and communicate verbally.
• The employee frequently walks, stands and occasionally sits.
• The employee must regularly lift, pull and move up to 30 pounds and occasionally up to 55 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
• This is a safety-sensitive position.

Schedule

Monday to Friday from 05:30 AM to 04:00 PM, 2 Saturday(s) a month from 07:00 AM to 02:00 PM.

Pay

This hourly, non-exempt position pays from $23.75 to $26.75 per hour, with overtime compensated at 1.5 times the base rate. New hires usually earn between $68,200 and $86,700 annually, or more, depending on experience, overtime hours, and bonuses.
