Strategic Sourcing Category Manager

About the role

Dometic is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Category Manager – Direct Material. This role is responsible for sourcing and managing materials for Dometic's products in the Mobile Living Industry.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing and supply strategies for different direct materials products.
• Scout and develop both domestic and global sources, focusing on best cost country sourcing.
• Evaluate make vs buy scenarios, explore synergies with existing supply base, and focus on developing non-traditional sources.
• Collaborate with suppliers and internal customers on supply issues, quality assurance, product launches, engineering changes, resource initiatives, capacity planning, and supply chain challenges.
• Negotiate and achieve year-over-year cost reductions and best-in-class cost through various tools like VA/VE, should cost analysis, supplier visits, audits, and cost breakdowns.
• Manage annual/multi-year supply agreements, negotiate contractual terms, and address commercial issues.
• Identify, qualify, and manage new suppliers, conduct financial and business case analyses, and align with Dometic’s core processes, policies, and metrics.
• Interface with regional and global procurement teams for supplier evaluations, purchasing activities, and cost and technology advancements.
• Support supplier recommendations that meet Dometic’s Quality, Technology, and Cost standards for new product development and launch.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or Engineering; Master’s degree is a plus.
• Minimum 8-10 years in sourcing, purchasing, procurement, with proven experience in sourcing different direct material components (metals, plastic, raw-material, rubber, electronics, traded products) and contract manufacturing.
• Computer skills required, including proficiency in Excel BI (pivot tables, formulas, reports), Word, PowerPoint, Power BI, and AI utilization.
• High mobility, 30% traveling within the US to Dometic locations or suppliers, including overseas trips for up to two weeks, twice a year.
• Experience in overseas trips and supplier development in low-cost regions preferred.
