About the Role
As a Strategic Partner, you will be a driving force behind transformative talent strategies that empower our associates, elevate leadership capabilities, and fuel Grand Casino’s long-term vision. You’ll go beyond HR operations to serve as a strategic advisor, coach, and organizational change agent—crafting solutions that align with Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe cultural values and enterprise-wide objectives. You’ll partner directly with business leaders to co-create future-ready strategies, shape associate experiences, and lead with data, heart, and vision.
Responsibilities
- Strategy + Culture Leadership
- Advise on enterprise-level workforce planning and succession strategies.
- Design and evolve scalable talent systems that support organizational growth and agility.
- Champion a culture of purpose, development, and high performance through coaching, mentoring, and internal mobility programs.
- Apply human capital analytics and labor market insights to influence strategic decision-making.
- Program Development + Delivery
- Create inclusive, culturally aligned talent programs focused on retention, development, and engagement.
- Lead the design and implementation of career pathing, mentorship initiatives, and leadership acceleration.
- Integrate Mille Lacs Band values—Wisdom, Love, Respect, Truth, Humility, Bravery, and Honesty—into every initiative.
- Business Partnership + Change Enablement
- Serve as a trusted advisor across leadership levels to enable enterprise alignment.
- Facilitate organizational development, design, and change management initiatives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to embed talent strategy into core business planning.
- Compliance + Conflict Resolution
- Navigate complex cultural and organizational dynamics with diplomacy and integrity.
- Lead impartial investigations and resolve conflict with fairness and cultural sensitivity.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, GRA requirements, and internal policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent.
- 2+ years in a strategic HR role; 2+ years in generalist or HRBP capacity.
- Preferred: 2 years of experience in performance consulting or organizational strategy.
- Experience in workforce planning, performance consulting, or organizational strategy preferred.
- Strong communicator, coach, and influencer across multiple stakeholder levels.
- Skilled in applying data and insights to drive equitable, strategic solutions.
- Must be able to secure a license from Gaming Regulatory Authority (GRA).
- Responsible for following all relevant Detailed Gaming Regulations (DGR’s).
- Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process.
