Strategic Negotiator (Contracts), AWS Legal

About the role

The Contracts Negotiator will lead negotiations of complex cloud services agreements with AWS's most sophisticated customers. This role combines elements of legal and business expertise, requiring a deep understanding of both technology and business considerations.

Responsibilities

• Develop internal strategy and craft proposals addressing unique customer requirements
• Draft bespoke contractual provisions and negotiate complex terms
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and leaders to resolve open issues
• Serve as the face of AWS Legal in customer negotiations, maintaining composure under pressure
• Exercise sound judgment in ambiguous situations and drive consensus across stakeholders

Requirements

• Strong command of complex contractual terms and underlying technology and business considerations
• Experience with complex commercial/legal concepts and drafting
• Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and follow through on deadlines
• High degree of independence, initiative, decisiveness, and creative thinking

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent
• 5+ years of multi-million dollar contract negotiation experience
• 5+ years of drafting and negotiating legal terms in a broad range of standard commercial contracts
• Experience with complex commercial/legal concepts and drafting
• Experience independently leading negotiations of complex sell-side business-to-business enterprise technology contracts involving AI, SaaS, IaaS, or cloud computing
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) or international equivalent

$82,700.00 - $133,000.00 USD annually
