Strategic Account Manager
About the role
As a Strategic Account Manager, you will maintain client relationships with key target accounts that have a strategic impact on the long-term success of the organization. You will identify cross-sell, up-sell, and repeat sales opportunities and work to resolve any issues or concerns to ensure customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Sales team to create and support the execution of strategic account plans at key, named accounts.
- Drive new business development by researching, qualifying, contacting, presenting, and closing new clients based on an assigned territory or market segment.
- Continuously develop relationships with priority customer stakeholders, understand their key business issues, and recommend ways to deliver value.
- Serve as a liaison between the field and Global Accounts teams to pursue new agreements, Value-Add/Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) commitments, and increase customer wallet-share.
- Maintain and manage a pipeline of opportunities at named accounts, including renewals, projects, and share improvement opportunities.
- Communicate customer activity, opportunity status, renewal status, and strategic plan progress to management.
- Participate in solution development efforts that best address customer needs.
- Engage supplier sales resources to enlist their support and create solutions.
Requirements
- High School Degree or Equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of proven sales experience in outside sales or 3+ years of strategic account and/or sales management.
- History of success maintaining and developing key relationships.
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Ability to understand where potential exists in assigned accounts and recognize and create opportunities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an aptitude for building strong client relationships.
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with CRM software and Microsoft Office.
- Self-starter able to work efficiently under pressure.
- Experience executing in a matrix organization managing multiple stakeholders and projects.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
Pay
$95,717 - $119,646 annually. This amount reflects the range Wesco reasonably believes it will pay for the position; actual offer amounts may vary based on factors such as geographic location, relevant education, experience, qualifications, skills, shift, or any collective bargaining agreements. For eligible positions, compensation may include participation in a bonus or sales incentive plan, subject to the terms of the applicable plan documents. Certain sales roles may also include a commission structure providing additional compensation based on sales results.
