Position Summary
The primary responsibility of the Strategic Account Manager is to grow the business and manage all commercial activities for the Defense business sector.
Principle Responsibilities
- Make sales calls and presentations to potential and existing defense customers.
- Build and strengthen relationships with current and prospective customers.
- Understand the needs of customers and match Tecomet’s solutions.
- Follow-up on sales opportunities.
- Possess and follow up on leads regularly.
- Develop sales proposals to gain new business.
- Generate quote requests from customers and follow-up internally at Tecomet and with customers.
- Work closely with each Tecomet site to respond to customer needs successfully and expeditiously.
- Identify potential new opportunities to create value for our customers.
- Review manufacturing processes with customers to identify areas of need/improvement.
- Understand company performance, goals, and capacity to fill gaps where needed.
- Attend and work at industry events and exhibitions to represent Tecomet and meet with customers.
- Resolve technical issues with customers.
- Expand legacy work with customers across all Tecomet sites.
- Identify potential new products/capabilities that would enhance Tecomet’s position in the marketplace.
- Interact with division staff to generate new leads, discuss opportunities, and help close sales.
- Complete duties in Salesforce.com weekly which includes but is not limited to: Customer meeting notes, Opportunities, Lead follow-up, Quote follow-up, Market intelligence.
- Participate in strategic and tactical commercial team meetings.
- Participate in training activities which include meetings, reading, team discussions, seminars and corporate training.
- Complete travel arrangements.
- Utilize company resources efficiently and responsibly (money, time, tools, etc.).
- Complete expense reports monthly.
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or related field preferred
- 5+ Years of experience in sales or account management within the defense manufacturing industry
- Experience in managing strategic accounts and achieving sales targets focused on the aerospace and defense market
- Experience in complex solution selling
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience establishing relationships with key clients and a history of nurturing and expanding those relationships over time
- Experience navigating complex negotiations to achieve favorable terms and agreements for both parties
