About the role
The Strategic Account Manager (SAM) serves as the primary commercial point of coordination for assigned National and Multi-Regional accounts. This role is responsible for driving a unified 'One Skyline' approach, moving beyond transactional sales to develop long-term, strategic customer partnerships. The SAM aligns internal sales efforts across regions, owns key customer relationships, and ensures a consistent value proposition across all interactions. This role plays a critical part in improving commercial effectiveness and maximizing enterprise value across Skyline's most strategic opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary commercial coordinator for assigned strategic accounts
- Develop and execute multi-year account strategies aligned with divisional objectives
- Drive a 'One Skyline' approach by aligning regional sales, operations, and support teams
- Clarify roles and responsibilities across regions while supporting—not replacing—local ownership
- Build and maintain executive-level relationships within key accounts
- Identify, prioritize, and pursue high-value opportunities across the enterprise
- Track and communicate market trends, customer strategies, and competitive dynamics
- Promote value-based selling and position Skyline as a strategic partner
- Partner with DSMs, Regional Managers, Product Managers, and Operations to execute strategy
- Support development of teammates and strengthen strategic account engagement
- Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in sales, account management, or commercial leadership
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven ability to manage large or multi-regional customer relationships
- Strong business acumen with understanding of profitability drivers
- Willingness to travel and relocate for future advancement within Nucor
- Experience in steel, construction, piling, or infrastructure markets
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams without direct authority
- Strong strategic thinking and communication skills
- Experience developing and executing long-term account plans
