About the role

The Indiana War Memorials Commission (WMC) was established in 1923 with the mission of designing, building, and operating the Indiana War Memorial Plaza Historic District, including the Soldiers & Sailors Monument. Today, the Commission manages several significant memorials and facilities.

Responsibilities

• Authorize the accuracy of all orders received in the storeroom and authorize all goods received.
• Contact vendors regarding partial shipments and/or misorders.
• Maintain detailed inventory records and records of items ordered.
• Evaluate and recognize record-keeping or storage procedures as necessary.
• Ensure proper storage procedures and rotation of stock for perishable items.
• Make recommendations on purchase of new equipment for warehouse and maintenance required in building.
• Oversee and assemble equipment received in “knocked down” condition.
• May ensure the security of incarcerated individuals staff assigned to the warehouse.

Requirements

• Thorough knowledge of requisitioning and disbursing procedures, consumption rates of stored items, and inventory control procedures.
• Thorough knowledge of stock items, their locations, and the proper methods of storing a variety of goods and supplies based upon efficient space utilization and a variety of state and federal regulations.
• Effective communication skills.
• Practical knowledge of state regulations in handling and storing foodstuffs and perishables.
• Able to train inmates and staff in proper operation of all equipment and proper methods of storage.
• Able to maintain detailed, accurate inventory and purchasing records.
• Able to operate forklift, hand-truck, and other mechanical equipment in warehouse.

Qualifications

• A degree is not required. However, experience applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role may be considered.
• Individuals should have the ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Pay

This position pays an hourly rate of $15.17.
