About the role

Spire is seeking a Storekeeper to work at our Bessemer, Alabama location. This position is responsible for receiving, storing, and issuing materials, equipment, and other items from the stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard while following appropriate safety guidelines and using safe work habits.

Responsibilities

• Read, understand, and complete required paperwork for receiving, issuing, and delivering parts and materials.
• Communicate with customers, employees, vendors, and supervisors regarding the availability of parts, pipe, fittings, meters, regulators, and other materials.
• Receive, unload, and distribute materials including pipe, fittings, meters, regulators, and other items.
• Maintain malleable fitting bins and free stock bins.
• Enter data into Oracle to track parts, materials, and inventory items and check availability.
• Use bar code applications for inventory management.
• Transfer and deliver materials to other local divisions.
• Read material requests and stock lockers and bins.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Alabama CDL – Type A.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs while performing warehouse tasks.
• Proficiency in Oracle for cycle counts, move orders, pick tickets, transfers, and requisitions (previous Oracle experience is a plus).
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, busy environment.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.

Physical demands and environment

• 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday.
• Outdoor work environment exposed to all weather conditions, construction areas with uneven surfaces, and loud audible noises.
• Extensive time in the field with exposure to heavy construction equipment and physical exertion.
• Overtime and/or travel may be required.
• Regularly lift and move boxes up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent use of hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls; walking, standing, climbing, bending, crouching, stooping, kneeling, or twisting.
• Ability to frequently repeat the same physical or mental activities.
• Ability to work in cramped workspaces and maneuver in awkward positions.
