About the role

The Specialist for Retail Store will serve as the Brand Champion for all Company Programs. They will work closely with Store Marketing and Retail Services as well as Store PCMs, site GMs, and DMs to ensure company policies and procedures are followed and programs are driven properly. Responsibilities include providing support, training, and development for operational management staff, ensuring a productive work environment, and implementing changes to boost efficiency. The role involves working with stores in an assigned region to ensure programs and pricing are in place, maximizing sales and margin dollars, and collaborating with company leaders to grow and protect the brand while minimizing losses.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the brand champion and expert, ensuring brand integrity
  • Plans, implements, and accomplishes successful execution of Retail Store Monthly promotions at all stores within their region
  • Represents the company and provides support at trade shows and conventions
  • Provides feedback to the Category Management team on programs and improvements
  • Offers suggestions for store flow based on expertise in guest experience
  • Works with Space Planning and DMs to properly reflow stores
  • Applies category and consumer insights to identify growth opportunities and drive innovation in product development and marketing initiatives
  • Monitors Team Member turnover and develops retention strategies with Store Management
  • Ensures all training is on target
  • Maintains contact with store managers through calls, emails, virtual meetings, and in-person site visits
  • Is knowledgeable and active in new store system installations and programs
  • Supports the management team to achieve targeted EBITDA, sales, margin, and shrink goals
  • Monitors store inventory levels
  • Assists the Loss Prevention Group as needed
  • Performs other duties to support division and company objectives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Five plus years of experience in retail/marketing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Excellent planning and execution skills
  • Willingness to travel and holds a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Able to lead people through clear vision, training, development, and positive recognition
  • Strong planning and analytical skills to create positive financial results (e.g., understanding P&L, coverage ratio, budget, and expense reports)
  • Stays current with industry guidelines by benchmarking competitors and reading convenience store periodicals
  • Exhibits excellent verbal and written communication skills

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

  • Lifts and carries merchandise items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds
  • Climbs ladders to reach supplies stored in overhead areas and inspects for cleanliness
  • Ability to stand/walk for up to ten (10) hours/day and sit for periods up to four (4) hours/day
  • Regularly operates computer equipment efficiently
  • Requires good hand coordination, fine motor skills, and manual dexterity
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Works within and outside of standard business hours in both exterior and interior conditions
  • Requires frequent car travel, overnight stays, and air travel
  • Extensive travel is required, approximately 80% of the work schedule
  • All duties must be performed with or without a reasonable accommodation

Travel

Up to 50% travel should be expected with this role.
