About the role
This is an hourly position responsible for ensuring the shop meets customer service, inventory management, and paperwork expectations while supervising store personnel.
Pay
$19.00 to $27.00 per hour. Placement within this range will be based on relevant experience, certifications, and demonstrated skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide quality customer service, including greeting customers, answering questions about parts availability, and assisting with parts research.
- Review customer requisition forms for completeness (signatures, timestamps, part numbers, descriptions, and quantities).
- Research parts using vendor/manufacturer websites, publications, equipment manuals, and microfiche.
- Respond to phone/email messages in a timely manner.
- Contact vendors for pricing and place orders; inform customers when parts are available.
- Coordinate emergency parts pick-ups with Counter/Driver personnel.
- Provide past sales research using the inventory system.
- Check parts availability across all MANCON locations and request transfers as needed.
- Review the Product Group Catalog to ensure requested items are approved for purchase.
- Adhere to MANCON’s SOPs, Supervisor Manual, Safety Manual, Policy and Procedures Manual, and Product Group Catalog.
- Generate, review, and distribute required reports, including:
- Daily Ticket Summary report with attached invoices for VDOT.
- Flat File Fix report to correct inventory system errors.
- SLA Failure Item Detail Report to assess stocking level adjustments.
- PT/OP Bin check report for corrections.
- Reorder report for inventory replenishment.
- No Min/Max report for inventory adjustments.
- Inactive Item Report to take appropriate action.
- Provide copies of vendor invoices for VDOT’s Quarterly Compliance review.
- Produce backup documentation for all credit card purchases.
- Ensure accurate data entry for customer requisitions, vendor receiving documents, and inventory transfers.
- Generate new item numbers in the inventory system following published guidelines.
- Perform and report weekly inventory cycle counts; research discrepancies.
- Monitor and review inventory bin assignments for accuracy.
- Review item sales history to ensure proper stock sources are set.
- Meet with VDOT representatives to discuss future stocking requirements.
- Process transfer requests from other MANCON locations.
- Conduct wall-to-wall inventory as required.
- Follow guidelines for vehicle and equipment maintenance.
- Provide 24-hour emergency support at the VDOT location.
- Travel to locations for parts pick-up.
- Train forklift operators.
- Assist with inventory research projects.
- Participate in the SCM continuing training program.
- Supervise assigned store personnel.
Requirements
- 1 year of computer experience.
- 5 years of auto or heavy-duty truck parts experience.
- 1 year of inventory experience.
- 1 year of customer service experience.
- 24-hour availability.
- Valid driver’s license with 2 years of driving experience.
- Obtain and maintain a forklift license.
- Obtain and maintain P1 or P2 ASE Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Delivery Driver experience.
- Supervisory experience.
Physical Requirements
- Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.
- Essential physical tasks: Driving, lifting, reaching, sitting, standing, stooping, and walking.
- Work environments: Storerooms, warehouses (uncontrolled temperatures, dirt/dust/damp conditions), and vehicles traveling to sites.
