Responsibilities
- Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Deliver excellent customer service.
- Embrace the Customer 1st strategy.
- Handle stressful situations.
- Communicate effectively with customers and associates.
- Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department.
- Recommend grocery items to customers.
- Check product quality and freshness.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies.
- Create a welcoming environment for customers.
- Stay current with store promotions and policies.
- Adhere to food safety regulations.
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers.
- Practice preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Notify management of accidents and safety issues.
- Report all safety risks, illegal activity, and fraud.
Qualifications
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
- Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction).
- Second language proficiency (speaking, reading, writing).
- Desired: Retail experience, second language proficiency.
- Promote trust and respect among associates.
- Knowledgeable about products and able to suggest items.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
