About the role
The Store Manager oversees all aspects of store operations, influencing guest satisfaction and performance of the retail staff. This role utilizes GameStop's business model to foster a positive shopping environment and drive sales.
Responsibilities
- Provide best-in-class guest service by greeting and assisting guests, responding to inquiries, and promoting GameStop's guest benefits.
- Ensure the store environment is clean, organized, and merchandised appropriately, fulfilling Omni-Channel orders and performing inventory counts.
- Recruit, hire, train, and retain associates, ensuring they understand company policies and procedures.
- Schedule associates, monitor staffing levels, and oversee payroll and timekeeping processes.
- Lead the team in achieving sales, profit, and shrink goals, maintaining a safe and secure environment.
- Count, balance, and reconcile daily transactions, and report any discrepancies to the District Manager.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old and provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the US.
- At least 1 year of retail management experience, and at least 3 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
- A high school diploma or equivalent, with an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or a related field preferred.
- Video game knowledge is preferred.
- Outgoing personality with strong people skills, clear verbal and written communication, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate’s or accredited bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
- At least 1 year of retail management experience required.
- At least 3 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management/leadership experience preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish speaking and writing skills preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as the head of a team to perform all tasks as assigned and in a timely manner.
- Meet leadership performance expectations, including, but not limited to, attendance, personal appearance, safety, and respectful workplace.
- Operate Point-of-Sale (POS) computer system.
- Possess basic mathematics and alphabetizing skills.
- Complete required paperwork properly.
- Carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and convey instructions to others.
- Execute financial tasks in strict accordance with company policy.
- Able to work alone, stand and move throughout the store, and perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 30 lbs.
