About the role
As a full-time Store Manager at Famous Footwear, you’ll lead your store team to meet and exceed Talent, Culture, and Operational responsibilities. You’ll inspire a culture centered on customer relationships, operational excellence, and flawless delivery while developing internal talent and building strong succession plans. You’ll own day-to-day store operations, leverage business insights to drive sales, and create an inclusive, positive work environment where associates feel valued and motivated to perform.
Responsibilities
- Inspire the Customer Connection: Foster a culture centered on customer relationships and operational excellence by modeling selling behaviors, coaching associates, and dedicating time to develop internal talent.
- Lead Talent Discovery: Proactively network for exceptional external talent, hire individuals passionate about creating top-notch customer experiences, and invest in succession planning for leadership roles.
- Own Retail Operations: Manage day-to-day store operations, including pricing, shipment processing, inventory, and staffing decisions. Balance associate availability, peak times, and seasonal demands to ensure exceptional service.
- Leverage Insights to Deliver Results: Drive sales with purpose by using business analysis and observations to refine strategies. Align operational efforts with available resources and key partnerships to meet goals.
- Be the Architect of a Winning Culture: Create a diverse, inclusive, and positive team environment where associates feel respected and motivated. Promote engagement through fresh and exciting initiatives to boost retention and performance.
Preferred Qualifications & Education
- Has a High School Diploma/GED.
- Has 1–5 years of retail store management experience, specialty retail preferred.
- Builds constructive and effective relationships within store teams.
- Demonstrates an ability to set objectives and goals and organize work appropriately to meet and exceed goals.
- Displays an ability to lead, manage, motivate, and communicate positively with store associates at all levels.
- Exhibits ability to train, coach, and develop associates.
- Exercises independent judgment and discretion, partnering with Territory Sales Manager as needed.
- Displays cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision making, financial and quantitative analysis.
- Demonstrates expertise and proven ability to lead general retail practices and procedures.
- Can work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including holidays, nights, weekends, and extended hours.
- Has basic computer skills.
Physical Requirements and/or Environment
- Ability to regularly lift up to 40 lbs. from floor level to above shoulder height utilizing appropriate equipment and safety techniques.
- Ability to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
- Ability to be mobile on the sales floor for extended periods of time.
