About the Role
The Manager Trainee is responsible for learning the duties of the Store Manager position and developing the skills required for a Store Manager role. This includes delivering a Legendary Customer Experience, building the team, driving sales, managing inventory, profit and sales, expense control, and reducing and managing shrink.
Responsibilities
- Recruiting, hiring, developing, evaluating, disciplining, and retaining efficient team members.
- Delivering Legendary Customer Service through GURA: Greet the Customer, Uncover Customer’s Needs & Wants, Recommend Product Solutions, Ask to Add Value & Appreciate the Customer.
- Creating a welcoming environment and fostering a sense of belonging in the store.
- Ensuring diversity, equity, and inclusion across Team Members, Customers, Suppliers, and Communities.
- Scheduling, organizing, and planning daily activities for team members to ensure efficient store operations.
- Leading team members to provide a Legendary shopping experience.
- Communicating company processes, policies, and directives to team members.
- Problem-solving and conflict resolution for team members and customers.
- Managing daily merchandise flow and ensuring adequate in-stock and inventory controls.
- Organizing merchandise resets to company specifications.
- Evaluating the competitive environment and working with Operations and Merchandising teams.
- Processing daily, weekly, and monthly paperwork, including invoices, schedules, product orders, and returns.
- Conducting sales forecasting, payroll analysis, and budget reviews.
- Documenting team member evaluations and corrective actions.
- Managing periodic price changes and communicating inventory needs.
- Coordinating special sales events and supporting district operational needs.
- Addressing team member issues and concerns, working with HR when necessary.
- Assessing and developing team members for advancement.
- Budgeting, sales forecasting, and auditing store processes.
Qualifications
- Retail experience and/or farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge strongly preferred.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.
- High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural-Science or Business-related field preferred.
- Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
Skills
- Valid driver’s license required for company business.
- Proficiency in processing information and merchandise through POS systems.
- Ability to read, write, and count for accurate documentation.
- Physical ability to access all areas of the store and operate necessary equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand/walk for long periods.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including nights, weekends, and peak seasons.
Working Conditions
- Normal office working conditions.
- Physical requirements include standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, stooping, bending, reaching overhead, driving, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
