About the Role

This essential position involves leadership and management of a retail store, ensuring excellent customer service, operational efficiency, and a positive public image.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Management:
    • Supervise 2 or more full-time employees, including Assistant Manager(s), Lead Representative(s), and Customer Service Representative(s).
    • Recruit, hire, and train enthusiastic employees to maintain high customer service standards.
    • Assign tasks to ensure the store is clean, stocked, organized, and well-kept per Company standards.
    • Maintain a professional and supportive image among staff and supervisors.
    • Schedule employees within Company guidelines to meet business needs and maximize customer service.
    • Implement non-discriminatory management practices in hiring, training, counseling, and employee separation.
  • Store Relationships:
    • Develop positive and professional relationships with suppliers.
    • Resolve customer complaints in a timely and professional manner.
    • Ensure regular and predictable onsite attendance.
    • Promote a safe, positive public image within the community.
  • Training and Development:
    • Prepare timely performance appraisals in Workday, including 30-, 60-, 90-day, 12-month, and ongoing anniversary check-ins.
    • Train employees to meet Company standards for customer service, store image, and marketing execution.
    • Train employees on safety procedures and promote safety awareness.
    • Mentor employees on cash handling to reduce company risk.
    • Ensure employees complete all required training promptly.
  • Communications:
    • Develop methods to ensure timely communication with all employees.
    • Establish periodic communication meetings with store employees and the Market Manager.
  • Organizing and Planning:
    • Evaluate and develop action plans to meet store objectives.
    • Maintain all store files and manuals.
    • Supervise employees to ensure accurate and timely completion of reports.
    • Ensure merchandise is stocked, attractively displayed, and priced correctly.
    • Ensure all required employment-related posters and signs are accessible to employees.
  • Financial:
    • Analyze daily sales and expense information to maximize sales and net profits.
    • Budget and forecast profit and loss lines, including merchandise margins.
    • Safeguard and account for all money received and disbursed.
    • Perform financial analysis to maximize sales and net profits.
    • Notify Market Manager of any discrepancies in sales, cash, inventory, or operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus 1 to 2 years of retail work experience (or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience).
  • Ability to supervise and train employees on equipment, tools, and materials listed in the Customer Service Representative (CSR), Lead CSR (LSR), and Store Assistant (SA) job descriptions.
  • Ability to manage functions outlined in the CSR, LSR, and SA job descriptions.
  • Proficiency or ability to acquire skills to use a computer for reports, inventory control, cash control, and employment-related forms.
  • Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
  • Open availability.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English.
  • Ability to perform essential duties and physical functions described.
  • Ability to work in the specified conditions.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and sit for long periods.

Certifications & Licenses

  • Food Server certificate (e.g., ServSafe) and Food Safety Management certification may be required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work a minimum of 50 hours per week.
  • Exposure to cold or warm temperature extremes, including occasional work in a walk-in cooler/freezer and outdoors.
  • Occasionally lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds from ground to overhead (e.g., stocking inventory).
  • Occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds from ground to waist (e.g., replenishing fountain syrups).
  • Grasp, reach, and manipulate objects with hands for an entire shift (requires eye-hand coordination).
  • Push/pull with arms up to 20 pounds (e.g., using a hand-truck).
  • Reach overhead for objects.
  • Bend and twist at the waist.
  • Communicate orally.
  • Operate a cash register and/or computer keyboard.
  • Stoop, kneel, squat, bend, push, and pull.
  • Work alone.
  • Exposure to occasional noise.
  • Stand and/or walk for an entire shift.
  • May require climbing a ladder to store/retrieve materials or place/remove signs.

Work Environment

  • Work requires 50 hours per week, including shifts on weekends, holidays, and all hours.
  • Approximately 95% of work is indoors, with occasional outdoor tasks (e.g., cleaning parking lots, gas pumps, taking out garbage).
  • Exposure to extreme cold temperatures in walk-in coolers/freezers.
  • Exposure to occasional noise.
  • Work with minimum direction and periodic supervision.
