Mud Bay’s Store Leads are the backbone of Mud Bay. They are empowering, responsible, and committed to growing and helping others develop within Mud Bay.

Pay

The target starting pay for this position is $21.04 per hour. The pay range of $21.04 to $24.20 per hour allows room for growth through annual increases and promotion potential.

Schedule

This is a full-time position with a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) of a median of 32 hours per week. Six days of scheduling flexibility are required, including both weekend days. This position will typically work five days per week: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. All team members are required to attend a once-a-month store meeting on Saturday evening.

Responsibilities

  • Provides a happy, educational, and fun experience for all who visit our stores
  • Thrives in a retail environment and engages dog and cat owners in conversation, connects with them on a personal level, and helps them find solutions to fulfill the needs of their animals, while ensuring that staff members are doing the same
  • Contributes to sales growth by providing complete, holistic solutions that promote long-term health for dogs and cats
  • Performs transactions at the point of sale, cash handling, and other financial procedures accurately and efficiently
  • Makes decisions based on good judgment and Mud Bay's mission and values
  • Enjoys learning and wants to learn continuously about animal health and nutrition and leadership; willing to help others learn in a team environment
  • Contributes to a team that celebrates differences and works together in a fun environment by providing fair leadership in all aspects of store operations
  • Leads, trains, and works with the team to maintain the cleanliness, organization, and attractiveness of the store's sales and support areas
  • Leads, trains, and works with the team to maintain inventory by continuously and accurately receiving, rotating, restocking, and facing the store
  • Leads, trains, and works with the team to ensure accurate stocking levels and quantities on hand to provide a fully stocked and functional store
  • Communicates with the manager and leadership team frequently to provide useful information ensuring the growth of staff’s abilities, performance, and needs
  • Considers and anticipates the needs of the store and the team while reflecting the values and character of Mud Bay
  • Opens and closes the store – leading the team during the day
  • Delegates, empowers, and ensures the experience is happening for customers and employees
  • Is comfortable with retail scheduling, including a variety of shifts
  • Is able to work at a minimum of four locations, between a home store and assisting at neighboring locations

Requirements

  • 1+ years of proven leadership experience or equivalent
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Delegation, coaching, and mentoring others through tasks
  • Ability to give and receive feedback
  • Ability to identify top business and people needs and prioritize
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Ability to lift up to 45 pounds
  • Experience leading a team required
  • Competent with basic math, comfortable using computers, calculators, and 10-keys
  • Has a passion to continuously learn about dogs, cats, and small animals
