Stock Technician
About the Role
This full-time position within the Supply Chain Operations team supports hospital cleanliness, infection control, and supply management. The role involves stocking and maintaining medical supplies, operating specialized systems, and ensuring the availability of critical equipment.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates concern for cleanliness of self and work area; practices infection control protocols to protect patients, co-workers, and self.
- Wears appropriate apparel in the central supply stock area.
- Stocks and uses protective gloves and cavi-wipes on supply carts to disinfect Omnicell keyboards.
- Inspects all equipment post-decontamination for cleanliness; returns items to decontamination if not thoroughly cleaned.
- Demonstrates complete working knowledge of Omnicell stocking procedures:
- Uses badge identification to log in.
- Selects correct pick ticket number and loads stock after login.
- Completes cycle counts and corrects inventory before stocking items.
- Adds new inventory after adjustments; checks for and adjusts any unlisted outs.
- Verifies successful log-out before leaving the area.
- Exits program if approached by a clinician needing supplies; resumes once the clinician logs out.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of the PMM program:
- Properly issues stock to correct cost centers.
- Correctly enters direct patient charges using PMM.
- Familiar with item lookup, cycle counting, order status, and issue processes.
- Operates the ECRS retail cash register system:
- Tracks all sales made from central supply.
- Inventories supply carts, fills orders, and pulls outdated supplies.
- Restocks isolation, latex-free, GU, IV drug therapy, and code carts:
- Restocks code carts immediately.
- Restocks all other carts before the end of the shift.
- Fills HSS orders as needed for nursing floors, surgical areas, and other departments.
- Uses computers to charge out supplies to appropriate departments.
- Performs cycle counts of inventory and records errors; discusses major fluctuations with supervisor/manager.
- Removes outdated products during inventory of Omnicell, carts, and central supply locations.
- Follows through on incomplete assignments and reports status to the next shift.
- Communicates customer issues, pump shortages, and unfinished assignments to co-workers at shift end.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One year of on-the-job training.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Standing and walking for extensive periods.
- Occasionally lifts and carries weights up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols with vision and hearing within normal range to respond to code alerts and equipment alarms.
- Work-related stress due to volume and time constraints, with irregular working hours.
Schedule
- Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM.
Pay
Pay range: $18.85 – $28.30 per hour.
