Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Maintain the cleanliness of kitchens.
- Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated items according to O.S.H.A. regulations.
- Maintain inventory of supplies needed to perform duties assigned to the stewarding department.
- Keep all equipment and supplies well organized.
- Operate and maintain dish machines, glass machines, floor scrubbers and burnishing machines.
- Clean floors, mats and drains for sanitary reasons using mops, brooms, scrapers, scrubbers and chemicals.
- Remove dirty dishes from cooks’ line (or disassembly areas) and take them to dish room for cleaning and re-stock cooks line with clean dishes.
- Report on all maintenance issues.
- Inform supervisors if equipment is found to be faulty or broken.
- Any other duties as assigned within the scope of this position.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Knowledgeable and proficient in all Stewards equipment, chemicals, & techniques.
- Knowledge of OSHA and safety standards.
- Ability of simple reading, writing, and task completion skills is required.
- Precision working, following instructions, influencing others, memorization, independent judgment, and decision making.
- Flexible working all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate.
Physical Demands
- Sitting and standing constantly.
- Walking, reaching overhead, bending over, crouching, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and balancing during the duration of their shift.
- Constantly lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling up to 50lbs or less.
- Constantly using both feet and both hands.
- Constantly having light and firm/strong grasping motions.
- Constantly using finger dexterity of both hands.
- Constantly using vision abilities including distance, depth perception, field of vision, and color vision.
Work Environment
- Indoors and outdoors, alone and frequently with and around others.
- Face-to-face with others on extended shifts around mechanical devices.
- Confined areas, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet and/or humid conditions, dirt/dust, moving objects, high places, and slippery surfaces.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may be loud at times and possible exposure to vibrations.
- Exposure to fumes/odor and/or secondhand smoke.
