About the role
Apart from the White Sands Hotel in Honolulu, HI, Hotel Equities is seeking a Part-Time Steward to join their team. The ideal candidate should have previous experience in a kitchen steward or similar role, though it is not mandatory. Key responsibilities include maintaining kitchen cleanliness, disposing of waste, and assisting with food preparation and supply restocking.
Responsibilities
- Wash, clean, and sanitize all dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils promptly and efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, dishwashing stations, and storage areas throughout the shift.
- Dispose of kitchen waste and recyclables according to established procedures and maintain waste areas in a clean and orderly manner.
- Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks and restock kitchen supplies as needed to support smooth operations.
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines to ensure compliance with local regulations and company standards.
- Report any maintenance issues or equipment malfunctions to the kitchen management team promptly.
- Collaborate with other kitchen and service team members to ensure timely and efficient workflow.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a kitchen steward or similar role preferred but not required.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks including lifting and moving heavy items.
- Basic understanding of sanitation and safety standards in a commercial kitchen environment.
- Strong work ethic with reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Qualifications
- Experience working in a high-volume restaurant or hospitality environment.
- Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment and cleaning chemicals.
- Certification in food safety or sanitation (e.g., ServSafe) is a plus.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and/or additional languages.
- Demonstrated teamwork skills and a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
