Job Summary
St. Elizabeth Healthcare is hiring a Sterile Processing Technician III for their Edgewood Sterile Processing team. The position is full-time, second shift, and offers competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.
Job Description
- Provides input to management for performance appraisals and counseling /disciplinary actions as needed.
- Aids in implementing and evaluating departmental goals consistent with organizational mission, vision, and values.
- Collaborates with personnel from various departments to ensure availability of appropriate instrumentation, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
- Schedules, supervises, and oversees the training of technicians in each area.
- Applies knowledge and understanding of sterilizer operation to avoid contamination.
- Incubates spores and interprets results, graphs, and printouts to ensure sterilizer functionality.
- Operates and maintains Medivator and Olympus Endoscope Reprocessor, performs filter maintenance.
- Performs sterile processing functions as needed.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with inter- and intradepartmental staff.
- Maintains sterilization processes and documentation to ensure adherence to infection control practices.
- Ensures timely follow-up, communication, and resolution to concerns of staff, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
- Assists in meeting department financial goals by adjusting staffing as needed.
- Demonstrates cost-effective utilization of supplies and equipment.
- Directs sterile processing activities and provides technical guidance on complex issues.
- Organizes responsibilities within the team and ensures ongoing personal growth and development.
Qualifications
- High School graduate
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT)
- If working in Endoscopy Department, Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBEP), Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT), or Certified Endoscopic Reprocessing Specialist (CER)
Specialized Knowledge
- Knowledge of perioperative instrumentation, sterilization, and AAMI standards.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission and AORN Standards.
- Computer entry skills.
- Competent in SGNA Guidelines if working in Endoscopy Department.
Experience
- Two years Sterile Processing experience as a Sterile Processing Tech.
- If working in Endoscopy Department, experience in Endoscopy Tech role.
Education
- High School graduate.
