Sterile processing Technician Certified

Full-time position, benefits eligible, 40 hours per week.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 12:00 PM–8:30 PM, plus on-call shifts.

Pay

Pay range: $20.80 – $31.20 per hour.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Two years’ experience in Sterile Processing.
• Certification as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) or other sterile processing certification required.
• Certification in Sterile Processing Management strongly encouraged within three years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Expert in all aspects of the sterile processing cycle; provide guidance and education to SPD employees.
• Assume role and responsibilities of Sterile Processing Supervisor when assigned.
• Assist Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintaining department production requirements by leading and directing SPD employees.
• Assist with case-cart management and communicate issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor.
• Use excellent communication skills when discussing instrument needs with Sterile Processing Supervisor, SPD Liaisons, and/or OR Clinical Coordinators.
• Ensure all equipment functions optimally and report issues to the Sterile Processing Supervisor and/or appropriate department.
• Assist Sterile Processing Supervisor with maintenance of departmental compliance logs.
• Assist SPD Manager with implementation and enforcement of departmental policies.
• Assist with special projects and interdepartmental committees as assigned.
• Protect self, co-workers, and facility by following approved policies and procedures to prevent the spread of bloodborne and/or airborne diseases.
• Responsible for cleaning, assembling, packaging, maintenance, and sterilization of surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Responsible for daily checking of autoclaves to ensure proper function.
• Work with other department staff to provide necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies for posted procedures.

Skills

• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Proficiency with computer programs such as Excel and PeopleSoft for ordering instruments.

• Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries.
• Exposure to sharp instruments that may cause cuts or abrasions.
• Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
