About the role
The Sterile Processing Technician supports physicians and surgical teams in the operating room and other departments by decontaminating, cleaning, inspecting, assembling, packaging, processing, and sterilizing instruments. This role involves adhering to medical center policies and procedures, as well as complying with state, local, and federal regulations.
Responsibilities
- Decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, processing, and sterilization of instruments
- Ensuring patient safety through accurate and timely sterile reprocessing
- Adhering to medical center policies and procedures
- Complying with state, local, and federal regulations
Requirements
- Completion of an approved sterile processing tech program and certification through CRCST - HSPA or CBSPD
- One (1) year of sterile processing experience, preferably in a hospital or surgical setting
- Successful completion of the department's internal written and practical exam
- Maintaining Sterile Processing II status through meeting required performance and productivity standards
Qualifications
Minimum of one (1) year of sterile processing experience, preferably in a hospital or surgical setting. Completion of an approved sterile processing tech program and certification through CRCST - HSPA or CBSPD. Meeting required performance and productivity standards is also necessary to attain and maintain Sterile Processing II status.
Skills
Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and proficiency with sterile processing equipment.
