Responsibilities
- Works under the direct supervision of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Operations Specialist or SPD Supervisor
- Works cooperatively with other members of the Surgical and Sterile Processing Team
- Demonstrates professionalism and ethical standards
- Completes tasks as assigned and uses appropriate resources and references for processing instrumentation and equipment
- Applies knowledge of sterilization processes, working independently in an ever-changing technical environment
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the sterilization process, from cleaning and decontamination through packaging, sterilization, and distribution of instrument trays for surgical case carts according to pick lists or surgeon’s preference cards
- Maintains regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures
- May or may not be certified or possess completion status in the SPD Readiness Course
- Participates in all unit quality control activities
- Demonstrates an understanding of the relationship of their role to patient care
- Helps maintain a safe environment for fellow team members and patients
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent required
- Successful completion of the SPD Readiness Course within 1 year (required)
