Stationary Engineer - Engineering 22

Job Description/Responsibilities

• Prepares boiler for inspection, such as repairs to firebox refractory, end doors, boiler stops, and valves, burners, high and low water controls, oil nozzles, electric programmer, and brushing of tubes.
• Tests boiler water and other systems for proper feeding of compounds.
• Makes repairs to all types of circulating pumps, air compressors, and vacuum pumps.
• Repairs lagging to steam pipes, hot water system, and steam valves such as packing.
• Troubleshoots and repairs air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
• Repairs laundry equipment that includes; washers, steam dryers, and folding.
• Repair steam sterilizers and equipment in surgery that includes surgical tables and lights, suction controls, and other equipment.
• Perform and complete monthly preventative maintenance on wheelchairs, overbed tables, supply and exhaust fans, motors, and general hospital equipment.
• Assist security officers as required.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer.

Required Qualifications

• LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS: California Driver's License required (no moving violations on record), HVAC Certification preferred.
• Educational Background: High school or equivalent education preferred, Completion of an Engineering apprenticeship program.
• Experience: One year previous hospital engineering experience preferred.
• SKILLS: Working knowledge of steam boilers, General knowledge of emergency power distribution, electrical plumbing, carpentry, welding, painting, and building construction work, Basic knowledge of bio-medical equipment, Employee must demonstrate basic computer skills.
