About the role
The Stationary Engineer operates or maintains stationary engines, boilers or other mechanical equipment to provide utilities such as light, heat, or power for buildings or industrial processes. This position has responsibility for demonstrating the core values of CareSTL Health: Customer Service, Community, Commitment, Compassion, and Competence.
Essential Functions
- Implement routine monitoring system for general equipment maintenance and repair.
- Service and maintain heating and air conditioning systems.
- Facilitate inspections of building, lawns and parking lots.
- Plan, perform, organize, and direct the operation of the maintenance and repairs of all heating and cooling ventilating systems.
- Assist Director of Facilities in obtaining bids and/or proposals for needed projects within the Health Center locations.
- Work with sub-contractors.
- Oversee all contractor work on property and Health Center equipment.
- Facility oversight.
- Conduct on-going inspections of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment.
- Conduct preventative maintenance routine on all equipment.
- Collaborate with security personnel to maintain and routinely test alarm systems.
- Assign keys, create employee and visitor identification badges.
- Maintain Safety, Compliance, and Operational Documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, inspections, repairs, and system performance.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, Life Safety Code, and organizational safety standards by completing required logs, reports, and documentation in a timely manner.
- Participate in safety drills and collaborate with Facilities leadership to ensure readiness and compliance across all building systems.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED Required
- Experience: 3-5 years of stationary engineer, including supervisory experience preferred
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of methods and principles in the operation and maintenance of heating, air conditioning and ventilating systems
- Knowledge of a wide range of equipment, proper lubrication methods, ability to detect problems and to perform minor repairs, etc.
- Strong knowledge of Metasys and Auto Pilot computer program
- Strong workflow coordination and time management skills
- Good oral and verbal communication skills
- Good organizational and self-motivated skills

Must have Reliable Transportation
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Copy of High School Diploma or GED required
- Copy of Transcript or Diploma, licenses, certificates as applicable
- Copy of a current City of St Louis -Class I Stationary Engineer’s license
- Copy of Refrigerant Certification
- Copy of EPA 408, Type 1 & 2 universal certifications
- Current Registration with the Missouri Family Care Safety Registry
- Annual PPD or Chest X-Ray
Training Requirements
- Current City of St Louis -Class I Stationary Engineer’s license required
- Refrigerant certification required
- EPA 408, Type 1 & 2 universal certification required
Other Information
- Clinic hours are Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
