State Parks - Twin Lakes State Park - Office Assistant - Open Until Filled

Hourly Rate: $17.00

Join the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) in preserving outdoor recreation, strengthening flood resilience, and protecting clean water, parks, natural habitat, and open space. This position is located at Twin Lakes State Park.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service in person, by phone, and via email
• Reconcile revenue for cash registers and prepare deposits
• Enter revenue data into designated software systems
• Maintain organized and accurate filing and storage
• Reconcile financial data and procure goods and services
• Manage park records and process time sheets, payroll, and invoices for payment
• Act as working supervisor at the park office/gift shop and contact locations, applying supervisory practices and principles
• Interpret and follow instructions, ensure operational and safety procedures are followed, and provide daily work direction
• Exercise independent judgment in problem solving
• Assist with special events and other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Excellent internal and external customer service and communication skills (in-person, phone, and email)
• Proficiency in using and troubleshooting basic computer systems
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
• Experience operating point of sale systems and cash management
• Ability to work well with staff, volunteers, and park guests both independently and as a team member
• Ability to work varying schedules, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays

Qualifications

• Prior experience providing customer service in a park setting or related field
• Prior work experience in a lead or supervisory capacity

Additional Considerations

• Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a criminal history background check
• Selected candidates must complete the I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification Form (DCR participates in E-Verify)
• A valid State Driver's License is required if operating a state or personal vehicle for agency business
• Wage/seasonal positions are not eligible for benefits and are limited to 1,500 hours from May 1 to April 30
