State and Local Tax Senior Associate or Supervisor - Income & Franchise Tax

About the role

The Weaver State and Local Tax team is seeking Income & Franchise Tax Senior Associates or Supervisors to join their growing practice. This role involves providing tax compliance and consulting services specific to state and local taxes, including income and franchise tax. Key responsibilities include working on various Income & Franchise tax returns, complex tax audits, and preparing complex tax research projects.

Responsibilities

• Identify and analyze complex tax issues for clients in diverse industries.
• Prepare and review state and local tax returns, including income and franchise tax.
• Conduct and respond to complex tax audits and prepare audit responses.
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients to understand their tax needs and provide tailored solutions.
• Collaborate with other members of the team to ensure comprehensive and accurate tax services.
• Manage multiple concurrent assignments of varying sizes and complexities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• CPA candidate or pursuing the CMA.
• At least 2 years of experience in public accounting or industry.
• Experience preparing income & franchise tax audit and refund schedules, and preparing multi-state income tax returns including Texas Franchise Tax returns.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
• Strong project management skills.
• Preferred CPA or CMA certification.
