About the role
Kinstead helps experienced Nurse Practitioners across Massachusetts start their own independent practices with the support to make it achievable. This isn’t a traditional NP job—you’ll own your practice, choose the patients you want to serve, and decide your schedule. We provide the infrastructure to build a practice that works for you.
For some NPs, this means more time with each patient. For others, it means greater schedule flexibility, higher earnings, or building something of your own. You don’t have to leave your current job to get started; many NPs begin with just a few hours a week and grow at their own pace.
Support we provide
Starting a practice involves more than patient care. Kinstead handles the business and operational work behind the scenes, including:
- Insurance credentialing and payer contracting
- Billing, coding, and revenue cycle management
- EHR and technology
- Scheduling and patient intake
- A virtual front desk with real humans answering patient calls

You bring the clinical experience and community knowledge; we help you turn that into a practice.
Getting started
Starting may be more achievable than you think. Most practices can cover basic costs with fewer than 3 patient visits per month, and startup costs are typically less than $3,000. As your practice grows, NPs typically take home around $100–$150 per clinical hour, with the potential to earn around $250,000 annually in a full-time practice.
Requirements
This could be a good fit if you:
- Are an experienced FNP, PMHNP, or other Nurse Practitioner
- Hold an active Massachusetts NP license and meet the state’s requirements for independent practice
- Have several years of experience caring for patients
- Have strong ties to the community you hope to serve
- Have thought about starting your own practice, even if you haven’t been sure where to begin
- Want more ownership over how you care for patients and structure your work
